After God’s Own Heart:
A Damaging Heart Attack
2 Samuel 11
FAILURE CAN COME WHEN WE LEAST EXPECT IT.
Those who indulge themselves in sin find that while the sin initially brings them a measure of pleasure that it ends up leaving them with a double portion of grief.
FAILURE COMES WHEN WE FORGET OUR GOD.
We cannot face sin in our own strength.
FAILURE COMES WHENEVER WE IGNORE WARNINGS
Charles Swindoll wrote, “David didn’t fall suddenly; some chinks had already begun to form in his spiritual armor.”
FAILURE COMES WITH CONSEQUENCES.
“There is a great tendency in all of us to camouflage what we have done. But if we have a heart for God, what we cover up is like an internal, physical infection. It grows and grows. We may appear relatively healthy on the outside, but if the internal infection is there, eventually it is going to show. And it is going to affect us in a terrible way.”
“He makes all things work together for good, for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 How did he do that? How did God turn adultery into victory? Look at Matthew 1: 1, 6, 16. The Messiah, Jesus Christ came from the line of David. An eternal kingship was given by God.
